I didn't scold Molly. She is, after all, a dog. And she'd simply reverted to her doggy nature and had done what her species has done for centuries. She hunted, she killed and she feasted.
2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that "... if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come!"
But how often do we revert to our old nature and excuse it with a pat rationalization?
Boys will be boys.
I can't help it, this is the way God made me.
The devil made me do it.
We all have to have fun, don't we?
The excuses go on and on. 1 Colossians reminds us we need to: "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature."
Unlike my four-footed friend, we are no longer bound by our original nature. And we have the power and strength of Christ to overcome it. Let's quit making excuses and live like the new creations we are.
