We were each born under a porch, too, trapped by sin, with no hope for our souls. Jesus's death on the cross rescued and freed us, and gives us the hope of eternal life with Him. We don't need to lay down to eat, or cling to any of the habits of our previous life. But we do. Maybe you developed a habit of gossiping or cursing to fit in, maybe you developed a habit to make you feel better about yourself, or to fill the emptiness inside.
You have a new life with Jesus, and no need for those habits. Jesus has the Bread of Life to fill your bowls. Don't lay down in the old habits. Shake them off and stand!
Colossians 3:7 "You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from you lips ... as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another."
