I fell in love with her and knew she needed to be rescued, so I took her home, gave her a new name and a whole new set of rules. My expectations are confusing to her (why can't I chew up these tasty slippers?) and she doesn't always want to do what I want (you want me to go in that kennel while you're gone? what fun is that?) But she is devoted to me, tries hard to please, and rarely leaves my side. And sometimes her joy overflows in puppy leaps and a wagging tail.
God also rescued us before we knew we needed a Savior. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
Let's never forget we do need a Savior. Sometimes our life with Him can be confusing and sometimes we don't want to do what He wants. But when we stay by His side, our joy will surely overflow.
What about your walk with Christ makes you joyful today?
